CatBird Studios is owned by Darlisa Riggs, currently residing in Utah County, just below Salt Lake City. Before moving to Utah, Darlisa worked for Boeing for 16.5 years on the International Space Station Program in Huntsville, AL and Houston, TX. Darlisa moved to Utah to work for DAZ 3D but now works for a financial services software company and generates documentatoin for their software (but still does documentation for DAZ).

In November of 2009, CatBird Studios purchased Alexa 2 from 3D Commune and re-released her at DAZ 3D's Artzone Marketplace. CatBird also publishes Crochet Uncut, a free online magazine for crochet enthusiasts, manages the DAZ Island estate in Second Life, creates hair and other items in Second Life, and encompases Darlisa's art studio work (both traditional and computer-based) and documentation endeavors.
